ASSOCIATION for SOLIDARITY & ANTIDISCRIMINATION in PSYCHOTHERAPY • VIENNA •

For a discrimination-free praxis.

MISSION STATEMENT

We are ASAP – the Association for Solidarity and Anti-Discrimination in Psychotherapy.

Based in Vienna, Austria, we are growing tired of the every-day and structural forms of discrimination we witness and experience, both in the praxis and in the training institutions.

ASAP is in itself a mission: to continuously encourage education and awareness, a push for intersectional-feminism in the therapeutic praxis. We hope to cultivate a reality where people seeking therapy, or therapists in training don’t need to be confronted with these structural forms of violence.

With this we take a clear stand to mitigate sexism, racism, nationalism, LGBTQIA+phobia, xenophobia, cis-heteronormativity, discrimination based off religion and ethnicity, colonial worldviews & eurocentrism, all forms of ableism and white supremacy. Seeing the influence these forms of discrimination hold on our mis-understanding of mental illness.

We see this as a step towards a world of authentic accountability and comprehensive psychotherapeutic support for all.

Workshops on awareness:

Starting with our pioneering workshop: Privilege Check, we aim to later offer trainings for experts in the field of psychotherapy and training centres on any given topic of discrimination.
